As relative newcomers to the world of pen making our aim from the start was to produce pens that merged the skills and heritage of our master craftsmen with state of the art technology and create not only a superlative writing instrument but a miniature work of art that exemplified both Great British workmanship and innovative design.
By using the rarefied art form of guilloche engraving and the time honoured technique of vitreous enamelling we have successfully achieved our goal of making world class pens that are a tangible luxury.

The Harlequin Pen. Created in sterling silver by Cleave designers and craftsmen and features a blue and turquoise harlequin pattern in cloisonné enamel over a fine guilloche background.

The Cleave London Pen. The limited edition hand crafted pen is made in sterling silver finely engraved and overlaid with vitreous enamel; the pen has been designed and produced to celebrate London in 2012. Designed with a number of historic and contemporary London landmark buildings in silhouette against a guilloche engraved blue sky and cloud background with the River Thames in the foreground. The reflection of the buildings can be seen beneath the blue enamel of the river. Each uniquely numbered pen produced this year will carry the London assay diamond jubilee hallmark which was designed to celebrate The Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Limited to 600 numbered pens, numbers 1 – 60 will each be set with a single rose cut diamond to the top of the pen cap celebrating every single year of Her Majesty’s Reign.

A Cleave special commission for a barrister of a limited number of sterling silver gilt pens. The design incorporates the griffin and black background from the badge of Gray’s Inn and the pink ribbon in which barristers’ briefs are traditionally bound up.

A particularly intricate Cleave bespoke commission of a sterling silver gilt pen. The ornately designed cloisonné pen is enamelled with translucent red, green, white and duck egg blue enamel. The vitreous enamel overlays an intricately engraved guilloche background.
